Admin: Health Care Update

I remember a few months ago Obama gave a speech that was pretty funny, where he roasted pretty much everyone in the administration including Joe Biden. He teased Joe about being like his new fluffy dog. They both were compulsively can-do and charged off without thinking clearly in the wrong direction. Well, Barack might be having too many breakfast meetings with Joe, because Joe's weakness is starting to become Barack's weakness.

Barack is so eager to be can-do about health care and so Chicago practical that he's thrown his compass overboard and is being carried by the winds of Congress which is not exactly the North Star.

What's my beef? Well, the NY Times article today with the Mayo Clinic weighing in on what's wrong with the legislation in Congress sums up my feelings better than anything I'd ever be capable of writing.

I hope Health-Care in all of its present forms in Congress never gets passed. Then I hope Barack takes a week off to Camp David or Hawaii and reads these statements from the Mayo Clinic a few hundred times to regain his compass on Health Care before going off in any direction.

Time Waster: Lights, Camera ....Fluff

I have a woman friend for years and I have a nick-name for her. It's a .....Fluffer. I remember when I first gave it to her, she was so upset. How could I call her Fluffer? As a Fluffer is a woman who between porn shots keeps the male porn star's flag at full mast. Or is it better to be at half-mast. Whatever.

I've imagined treating Hollywood stars in these pieces. I'm serious. I decided to learn about Hollywood, so for a few weeks I watched DVD's of The Entourage. It wasn't a turn on. I wondered if this was really Hollywood, so I listened to all the Director commentaries. It was depressing. If this was Hollywood, then count me out.

I shifted directions mentally. I started wondering how to get Obama's ear with these epilepsy pieces. I thought it was a practical approach. Then I started to wonder what it was really like in the White House. So for the last week, I've watched a bunch of the West Wing episodes. I don't know if it is a realistic depiction of the White House, but it feels like it might be close.

What have I learned. I don't have a political bone in my body. I'd be cut loose faster than you can say - Tom Daschel. No let's rephrase that. I don't have a politically correct bone in my body. And if I do have such a bone, I'd get rid of it soon.

Hey Barack: The Game Is Rigged -- Final Epilogue

Hey Barack,

It's Friday night. Instead of watching the fights somewhere, I decided to drink a brewski and watch Bill Moyer's online. I get as buzzed on one beer, as an 90 year old grandma in a nursing home. Actually every time I walk home a certain way, I always walk by a nursing home and look instead and want to cry at the old people stuck living out the last years of their lives in this place.

I've figured out Chinese Medicine on the national stage Plan "B", because for the last few weeks watching the health care in Congress hasn't made me angry anymore. It's laughable as the same-old-same-old if we're lucky, as it could be even worse than the status quo. You think I'm kidding -- how about 45 million new customers for the private insurance companies or get tossed in jail. Hello Canada, as I impersonate a Vietnam draft dodger.

It only convinces me that Plan "B" in my own head is a more viable option. I don't want to go it into here because I'm too buzzed. That day will come as it includes taking the old people out of the "retirement community", which is what they are called nowadays.

Hey Barack: The Game Is Rigged -- Epilogue

Hey Barack,

I got home last night at about 9 P.M. and realized I needed to illustrate the difference between Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine. I needed to explain my Chinese Medicine diagnosis of my recent woes and the formula I chose to use.

It’s the next day after another pretty good night of sleeping, so the formula is heading me in the right direction. Last night I had a dream with his Holiness Barack Obama in it, so I need to blab on about that too, because the dream is important information to my own personal Chinese Medicine puzzle.

First an amusing anecdote from my personal life. In 2001, I was more broke than my usual broke. I wanted to focus on Chinese Medicine but my checking account and bills had other ideas. I ended up, through some good karma or sheer luck, to banquet wait at three nice hotels in downtown Seattle.

Before getting this job I didn’t have the highest regard with Hispanics. It was rooted in my childhood days, when after my Mom was divorced a Hispanic was fond of her and relentlessly stalked her. It got really annoying for him to appear out of nowhere and then not go away.

I shouldn’t have generalized about the whole Hispanic population from one bad egg. But there weren’t any other Hispanics eggs in the neighborhood to draw a different conclusion from. The makings of my ignorant prejudice. Isn’t ignorant and prejudice redundant.

Admin: Hero Worship

It’s the Fourth of July. It’s been 5 years since my last real girl friend. It’s been exactly 5 years. Because who can forget being dumped on Independence Day, when your best friend tells you a few days after being dumped, that she sure knew how to be independent on Independence Day. It’s a joke that’s tough to forget, and it took a while for me to realize how funny it was.

I didn’t start this piece to worship my last girl friend. Although maybe it’s time for me to be independent myself from her psychologically, so later this week I’ll take down her shrine in my bedroom.

Well things change. And thank God for it.

Today a lead article was about Sarah Palin throwing in the towel about her being the governor of Alaska anymore. It was about a year ago, when she burst on the national scene. She scared the bejesus out of me with the prospects of her being a John Mc Cain failed heartbeat away from being the next President. I’d prefer getting dumped every 4th of July for the next four years by someone I loved, than seeing her in office for four years. I’d be 50 times more likely to kill myself watching her in office than being dumped by anyone at anytime.
